The Patrol Operations
Division is commanded by a Captain , who oversees the day to day operations of
the four (4) Uniform Patrol Shifts, Traffic Enforcement Unit
, K-9 Unit, COPS Unit and the Special Operations Unit.
The Uniform Patrol Shifts are responsible
for the initial response to calls for service, traffic accident investigations,
traffic enforcement, and uniform patrolling of the city. Each of the Patrol
Shift is supervised by a Shift Lieutenant and a Shift Sergeant. Each patrol shift has a average of
four (4) additional uniform police officers assigned to each shift.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) is a dedicated traffic enforcement unit,
which is responsible for the enforcement of motor vehicle offense and the
investigation of traffic accidents within the City of Norcross. The TEU operates
specially marked patrol units and motorcycles. Members of the TEU have received
advanced training in motor vehicle laws and accident investigations. The Traffic
Enforcement Unit reports directly to the Field
Operations Commander.
